The director group alone has over 100 years combined experience in the commercial and residential real estate industry. Birdsey Group leadership has vast experience working on single as well as large portfolio transactions that includes over 60,000 loans with over $250 billion in loan balance.

B. Sandford Birdsey III

Sandford Birdsey

Mr. Birdsey, President and CEO of The Birdsey Group, LLC, has over 22 years experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry. Prior to establishing Birdsey Group, he was the Senior Managing Director – Capital Markets, and Managing Director – Real Estate Advisory Group for GMACCM/MortgageRamp. He also spent five years as Director of Real Estate with Univest Financial Services, LLC, an international CRE financial services firm. Prior to joining Univest he worked as a senior commercial real estate appraiser with several firms including US Realty Associates and Everson, Huber and Driggers, LLC.

Mr. Birdsey’s specific work history includes directing the real estate consulting effort for loan portfolio securitizations totaling over 4,000 properties with over $25 billion in loan value. He has been responsible for all real estate analysis for many seasoned portfolio CMBS transactions and B piece acquisitions for clients such as Blackrock Capital/UBS, Bank of America, Lehman Brothers, Protective Life Insurance, Credit Suisse First Boston, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Midland, JER Investors Trust, Ocwen Financial Corporation and many others. He holds a Bachelors degree from Mercer University and studied management and real estate at Regent College in London England. Mr. Birdsey is a past associate member and former President of the Associate Leadership Committee of the Appraisal Institute. He is also a member of the CRE Finance Council, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and REGA.

Jim Going

Jim Going

Jim Going is President and Chief Operating Officer of Financial Services for Birdsey Group LLC.  Jim was previously the Chief Executive Officer of ReadyCap Holdings, LLC. ReadyCap is a non-bank specialty finance company that focuses on small balance commercial real estate, multifamily and government guaranteed loan opportunities.  Jim has more than 25 years of experience in providing services to the financial institution sector primarily specializing on small balance commercial real estate and multi-family lending. These services include mergers and acquisitions, portfolio management, operations, compliance, audits, loan originations, loan acquisitions and disposition as well as securitizations.  Prior to ReadyCap, Jim held executive management positions at Stifel, Principal Real Estate Investors, Washington Mutual and Univest.  Jim is based in Birdsey’s Dallas, Texas office.

Robert Burton

Robert Burton

Robert Burton, Managing Director of Commercial Services, has more than 17 years of experience in the commercial real estate and financial services industry. Mr. Burton’s experience includes providing CMBS underwriting, securitization support, investor reporting, and re-underwriting/valuation services to a broad array of clients including investment & money center banks, B-piece buyers, servicers, government agencies and life insurance companies. Prior to joining The Birdsey Group, Mr. Burton served as a Managing Director at Covius, LLC (formerly RR Donnelley Global Real Estate, OfficeTiger, and MortgageRamp) where he was responsible for managing the operations of the Commercial Debt division, which included loan origination underwriting, acquisition due diligence & re-underwriting, and transfer & assumption services. Mr. Burton has also served as a Manager of Asset Analysis and Consulting at TriMont Real Estate Advisors and as an Operations Analyst in Hilton Hotels’ Eastern Regional Office. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance & Real Estate from the University of Alabama.

Madge W. Adams

Madge W. Adams

Madge Adams is Director of Field Real Estate Services for The Birdsey Group, LLC, focusing on property inspections and market research. She has over 15 years experience in commercial real estate including field inspections, market studies and appraisal. Formerly Ms. Adams worked as a Production Manager in the real estate group of MortgageRamp and was a field analyst and inspection coordinator for Univest Financial Services. She is past director of the Macon/Bibb County Real Estate Association and former president of Career Women’s Network. Ms. Adams has a Bachelors and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Georgia and is a past associate member of the Appraisal Institute.

Jason Munson

Jason Munson

Jason Munson is Senior Director of Business Development for Birdsey Group and has more than 24 years of real estate experience with an extensive background in finance, underwriting and due diligence, asset management, acquisition/disposition and real estate development.  Prior to joining Birdsey Group, Jason served as Regional Vice President at CBRE in the Assessment and Consulting Services group which provided comprehensive construction, environmental, property condition assessment and zoning compliance services to institutional owners and investors.  He previously served as Vice President of Asset Management at Trimont Real Estate Advisors and Managing Partner of New Life Development Group, a boutique real estate development firm focused on office, retail and senior living concepts.  Jason is a graduate of the University of Georgia and holds a Sales License from the Georgia Real Estate Commission and has held general contractor licenses in both Georgia and Alabama.

Jeff Walker

Jeff Walker

Jeff Walker is Director of Commercial Services for Birdsey and is responsible for managing and growing a team of underwriters and field service professionals in support of our clients’ commercial real estate lending, investing and trading platforms.  Jeff previously spent 8 years at Cushman & Wakefield’s Equity, Debt & Structured Finance Group.  As a Senior Director, Jeff was responsible for underwriting and executing commercial real estate debt and equity offerings on behalf of clients to Freddie Mac seller servicers, Fannie Mae DUS lenders, conduits, banks, life insurance companies, debt funds, and family offices.  Jeff also worked at Capmark Finance Inc. as an associate in the mortgage banking group.  He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in finance and real estate from Georgia State University and a Bachelors of Business Administration in finance from the University of Georgia.

Dennis Young

Dennis Young

Dennis Young is Director of Agency Services with Birdsey Group, where he oversees Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae Conventional and Small Balance loan underwriting and manages client relationships. Dennis has over 20 years of experience underwriting and appraising commercial real estate properties with a focus on Agency multifamily lending. Previously, he worked as Deputy Chief Underwriter at Hunt Mortgage Group/Centerline, Underwriting Manager at Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage, Senior Underwriter at HomeStreet Bank and Chief Appraiser at Bankers Mutual.  Dennis received his undergraduate degree from University of California, Irvine.

Todd Grashaw

Todd Grashaw

Todd Grashaw, Managing Director of Birdsey Group Residential, LLC, has more than 20 years in the residential real estate and mortgage lending industry.  At Birdsey Group, Mr. Grashaw oversees the residential due diligence and quality control operations.  Prior to joining Birdsey Group, Mr. Grashaw held various executive positions with Goldman Sachs, Altisource Portfolio Solutions, and a firm he founded that specialized in quality control and forensic underwriting.  Mr. Grashaw has held various other positions including AVP, Due Diligence Manager for a Real Estate Investment Trust and Senior Underwriting Consultant for Fannie Mae.  Mr. Grashaw holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia where he taught Statistics as an Adjunct Professor for two years after graduation.

Michael Dougherty

Michael Dougherty, Chief Operating Officer of Field Services for Birdsey Group, has over 20 years’ experience in the real estate industry. Before joining Birdsey Group, Michael was Vice President / General Manager of real estate field services for Altisource Portfolio Solutions (ASPS). At Altisource Michael oversaw a portfolio of 50,000 assets leading a group that generated over $300MM in revenue. Prior to ASPS Michael’s 20 year real estate career included management roles at Opus South, the Southeastern operating branch of the Opus Group, a $2.1 billion development and asset management company and Cypress Equities/Staubach Retail Services, a national retail brokerage and development firm specializing in shopping center development and acquisitions. He has also served as a real estate representative for Kmart Corporation, where he managed a portfolio of 340 stores and oversaw the development of 22 new locations, additionally, Dougherty spearheaded Kmart’s international expansion in the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Michael has previously sat on the Board of Directors for Heroes and Champions; a non-profit sports and leadership camp for disadvantaged children. Additionally, Dougherty is on the Alumni Board of The Lovett School and previously sat on the House Committee for Cherokee Town Club. Michael holds both a BA and MBA degree from the University of Georgia. Michael holds a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) certification from the National Board of Realtors and is a member if ICSC, ULI and BOMA.

Reid Schermer

Reid Schermer

Mr. Schermer serves as the Managing Director of Operations for Birdsey Property Solutions and brings over 15 years of diverse real estate experience to the organization.  Prior to joining Birdsey, Mr. Schermer served as the Senior Manager of Operations for Altisource Portfolio Solutions.  While at Altisource, he oversaw preservation and maintenance activities for over 20,000 Real Estate Owned properties.  Mr. Schermer’s extensive experience in property preservation, GSE servicing, vendor oversight and operational excellence position Birdsey to continue delivering exceptional service to our clients.  Mr. Schermer’s background includes working for the Fortune 500 homebuilder Pulte Homes where he developed thousands of residential lots throughout south west Florida.  His resume includes such communities as VeronaWalk and VillageWalk of Bonita Springs along with winning the prestigious JD Powers award for customer satisfaction in 2005.  During that time Mr. Schermer served on the Collier County Development Services Advisory Council providing valuable input to the Board of County Commissioners.  Mr. Schermer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Florida State University.
